Weber's Agave

Agave weberi

Weber's Agave

A soft-tipped agave that attracts hummingbirds to its towering flower spike and offers winter color interest.

Hardy to about 20-25°F, USDA 9-11; a low-desert agave with moderate frost tolerance.

AMWUA Notes

Large, low-water agave with soft tips that pups readily for easy division.

Care Guide

💧Watering

Water every 2-3 weeks in summer while establishing, then monthly; sharp drainage prevents rot.

✂️Pruning

Remove withered lower leaves; monocarpic, so remove after bloom and retain the freely produced pups.

🌱Fertilizing

Optional light spring feeding.

🛡️Pests

Agave snout weevil is the key concern; treat preventively and remove any collapsing plants.

☀️Seasonal Notes

Soft-tipped and relatively frost-tolerant, but leaf tips can burn in hard cold; hummingbirds visit the flower spike.

🪨Soil

Needs sharp, fast-draining soil.
